7 Things to Do With Your Dog This Fall

Autumn is officially here! The weather is cooling, the stores are filled with pumpkin-flavored everything, and the leaves are starting to change. If you have a dog, this is a great time of year to spend some time with Fido. In this article, a Indianapolis, IN vet lists some fun things to do with your canine pal this fall.

Take A Walk

Autumn’s crisp weather and beautiful foliage makes for absolutely perfect doggy walking weather. Grab a big to-go cup of hot coffee or tea, and take Fido to a park or trail for a long, relaxing stroll.

Play Outside

Fido’s outdoor time will probably decrease once winter sets in, so spend some time outdoors with him while you can. Take your furry buddy to the yard to soak up that autumn sun. To get that tail wagging, indulge your pet with a fun round of Fetch, or teach him some cute tricks.

Enjoy A Special Treat

To make a yummy seasonal snack you and Fido can both enjoy, mix pureed pumpkin with natural peanut butter, whole-wheat flour, and an egg. Separate into cookies, and bake at 350 for about 10-15 minutes.

Beauty Session

Before the weather gets cold, give Fido a good brushing to remove the dead fur from his coat. Then, follow up with a good bath. Don’t forget to trim your pup’s claws! Overgrown nails can be very uncomfortable for Man’s Best Friend!

Take A Nap

While sunny autumn days are always wonderful, there’s something special about grey, rainy fall days as well. Make sure Fido has a comfy bed to snuggle up in when the weather gets cold! When one of those dreary days rolls around, settle in with a good book or movie, some tea or coffee, and your canine buddy.

Photo Session

This is a wonderful time to get some really cute shots of your furry bff. Recruit a friend or family member to get pictures of you and Fido together, and then frame your favorite.

Veterinary Appointment

Make sure your canine friend is current on his exams, vaccinations, and parasite control. If Fido is overdue for veterinary care, make an appointment now. Afterwards, stop at a doggy café and get your pup a special treat.
